[hal-00923417, v1] Capacity Limits and Multiplexing Gains of MIMO Channels with Transceiver Impairments
نویسندگان
چکیده
The capacity of ideal MIMO channels has an highSNR slope that equals the minimum of the number of transmit and receive antennas. This letter shows that physical MIMO channels behave fundamentally different, due to distortions from transceiver impairments. The capacity has a finite upper limit that holds for any channel distribution and SNR. The high-SNR slope is thus zero, but the relative capacity gain of employing multiple antennas is at least as large as for ideal transceivers.

The Channel Capacity of MIMO Systems with Impact of Transceiver Impairments and Varying Antenna Element
In this paper, an effort has been made to illustrate the performance of MIMO system under the effect of transceiver impairments on channel capacity with varying antenna element. The capacity of ideal MIMO channels depends upon number of antenna used in antenna array. At small SNR values capacity increases linearly. When there are distortions from physical transceiver impairments MIMO channels h...

The increasing demand on real time application to achieve high throughput, reliable wireless system and network capacity for fourth generation wireless local area networks is to combine MIMO wireless technology with OFDM. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), which offers reliable high bit rate wireless system with reasonable low complexity. OFDM does provide large data rates with ...
متن کاملMIMO Transceiver Design for Multi-Antenna Communications over Fading Channels
In wireless communications, the use of multiple antennas for both transmission and reception is associated with performance gains of fundamental nature. One such gain stems from the spatial-multiplexing capabilities of wireless multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) channels: Many propagation environments admit several data streams to be conveyed in parallel over a single point-to-point link, set...
متن کاملMultiple Antenna Techniques
Recent developed information theory results have demonstrated the enormous potential to increase system capacity by exploiting multiple antennas. Combining multiple antennas with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is regarded as a very attractive solution for the next-generation wireless communications to effectively enhance service quality over multipath fading channels at affor...
متن کاملCapacity and Diversity Gains of MIMO Systems in Correlated Rician Fading Channels
This paper investigates the effect of Rician fading and correlation on the capacity and diversity of MIMO channels. The use of antenna arrays at both sides of the wireless communication link (MIMO systems) can result in high channel capacity provided the propagation medium is rich scattering or Rayleigh fading and the antenna arrays at both sides are uncorrelated. However, the presence of line-...
